A 70-year-old man has died after a Toyota Landcruiser collided with a power pole in Sydney’s northwest outskirts.

The fatal incident, which saw the vehicle veer 25m off the road, took place on Monday on Old Northern Rd, Dural

Witnesses helped the driver, who was the only person inside the car, while waiting for emergency services. The man received first aid and was rushed to Westmead Hospital with serious chest injuries.

The 70-year-old man died in hospital about 3pm on Wednesday.

The fatal car crash took place one day after a 75-year-old man, driving a vintage 1956 Damier, died in another deadly crash near the intersection of Cattai Ridge Rd and Smith Ln in Sydney’s northwest outskirts.

Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command will investigate the circumstances behind the fatal crash on the Old Northern Rd and will prepare a brief for the coroner.
