Memorial Ave, Kellyville is set for a multimillion-dollar upgrade, following an eight-year campaign by Baulkham Hills state Liberal MP David Elliott.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Western Sydney Minister Stuart Ayres announced the $180 million investment today — which will see the road upgraded to a four-lane divided road with shared pedestrian and cyclist paths on both sides — alongside the Baulkham Hills state Liberal MP.
Mr Elliott revealed a team was already on site at the 2.2km stretch of road commencing work.
“The need for this investment dates back to planning mistakes made by the NSW Labor Party a decade ago,” Mr Elliott told the Times.
“Kellyville was developed without the consideration of critical infrastructure and we are finally catching up.
“There will be three years worth of disruption during the much-needed upgrade, but I am assuring residents of Balmoral Rd Estate that it will be worth the wait.”
Mr Elliott said the hundred-million dollar investment in Memorial Ave, alongside the Sydney Metro northwest and new Bella Vista Public School, would make the Balmoral Road Precinct “the dress circle of The Hills”.
“I am also continuing to work with council to ensure that Arnold Ave and Fairway Dr are completed at the earliest opportunity,” he said.
“I would call on the entire community to ensure they use this new infrastructure that is being provided to us.”
Ms Berejiklian said construction will begin on Memorial Ave this year, while Western Sydney minister Stuart Ayres said the investment would allow commuters to spend less time in traffic and more time at home.
