NSW Government identify Memorial Ave, Kellyville for new Hills SES headquarters
THE State Government may have finally found a suitable location for a new State Emergency Services headquarters for The Hills.
THE State Government may have finally found a suitable location for a new State Emergency Services headquarters for The Hills.
More than 19 months after Roads and Maritime Services and the Hills Shire Council commenced investigations to identify a new location for the emergency volunteer crew, it has been revealed government land in Kellyville may be suitable to house the new home.
Baulkham Hills state Liberal MP David Elliott confirmed the NSW Government is investigating the allocation of land under the Sydney Metro Skytrain at Kellyville, on the corner of Old Windsor Rd and Memorial Ave, as a feasible location for the volunteer department.
Mr Elliott said direct access to major arterial roads was the reason behind the government’s proposal.
A Hills Shire Council report, released on Tuesday, said Landcom was “prepared to offer one of four potential sites along the alignment of the Sydney Metro Northwest viaduct for construction of SES headquarters”.
“An architect was engaged to prepare preliminary concept drawing to see if dimensions and size of one of the remaining site is suitable for the headquarters,” the report said.
In April 2017, The Hills Shire Council approved $300,000 in funding to commence the design and planning approval for the project, however, has been waiting on RMS and Transport for NSW to identify suitable land for the unit to relocate to.
