GROUNDBREAKING funds for the Rouse Hill Hospital, the upgrade of Memorial Ave and new schools across the Shire are just some of the major wins for Hills residents in the NSW Budget.

A $75 million allocation to acquire land for the Rouse Hill Public Hospital was revealed by NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet today, as Baulkham Hills state Liberal MP David Elliott champions the cash bonanza in stall for the Hills.

The funds, which will help identify the site of the new hospital and acquire land for construction, was revealed as part of a statewide $8 billion health infrastructure fund.

Mr Elliott said he was more than grateful for the allocation.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think that when we open the Norwest Rail Link, would I be then watching the construction of the Rouse Hill Public Hospital,” Mr Elliott told the Times.

Residents are expecting the Public Hospital will be located in Rouse Hill, however, no locations have been determined.

When it comes to our roads, Mr Elliott said one of the major commitments was a $22 million fund to complete compulsory acquisitions on Memorial Ave.

The final stages of funding for the Sydney Metro Norwest were also announced by the NSW Treasurer in his Budget address, with $2.4 billion set aside to complete the project.

Mr Elliott said although there were no surprises in the Budget, all ongoing projects were honoured.

“I am thrilled that we have a commitment to the final stages of the Norwest Metro, which was 33 years in the making,” Mr Elliott said.

Mr Elliott said school projects, including the competition of work at the New Bella Vista Public School and ongoing work at Excelsior Public School and North Rocks Public School.

“I am delighted to see the funding and timing of Bella Vista Public School locked in,” he said. “The allocation will be more than $16 million this financial year, for the competition of funding for the project.”

But a shock to Mr Elliott was the commitment of $500,000 for a pedestrian and cycle path along Strangers Creek from Solent Cct to Fairway Dr in Norwest and Kellyville.

“In Balmoral Estate we have had up to 100 people a week moving in,” he said.

“Their natural commercial centre is Marketown Norwest, a lot of them have had to put up with walking along a construction zone on Fairway Dr, so this pathway will become a very popular piece of infrastructure for young families.”

$788,000 was also secured for the construction of 275 car spaces at the Oaks Rd bus interchange on the M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills.
