Maraylya: Boy, 2, rushed to hospital after near-drowning in dam on private property
A CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter attended a private property after reports the boy, 2, was found in a dam. The toddler has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

A toddler has been rushed to hospital after going into cardiac arrest following a near-drowning in Sydney’s northwest.
A CareFlight Rapid Response Helicopter attended after reports the boy, 2, was found in a dam on a private property in Maraylya.
The helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly after 10.30am and landed 10 minutes later on the grounds of the property at on Pebbly Hill Road, Maraylya, where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment for the boy.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic continued the advanced life-support which included CPR and intubating the boy to place him in an induced coma and stabilise him at the scene of the incident.
CareFlight’s clinical team continued providing care as the toddler was taken by road in a critical condition with his mother and to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
NSW Ambulance Acting Inspector Greg Marshall said the little boy was in cardiac arrest and unresponse when paramedics arrived.
“This is a parent’s worst nightmare, arriving at a scene like this is heartbreaking,” he said.
“It was an incredibly tragic scene we were faced with — Paramedics and emergency services performed lifesaving treatment before transporting our patient to hospital.”
Insp. Marshall pleaded with families to remain vigilant in and around the water: “it only takes a moment for anyone to get themselves into trouble.”
