A Sydney teen who bashed a fellow clubgoer so savagely he had a deep head wound, a black eye and a fractured eye socket has told a court he suffers from anxiety.

Jordan Burke, 19, was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm after he left a fellow clubgoer at Cram Bar in Richmond significantly injured on March 23 last year.

The South Windsor man pleaded guilty after he tried and failed to have the charge dismissed under the Mental Health Act due to his anxiety and borderline personality disorder.

Police facts state the victim approached the accused at the bar before a short conversation turned sour.

“(The accused) became enraged and violently pushed the accused with two open hands,” police facts stated.

The victim then fell backwards and his head collided with an unknown object which caused a deep, bloody laceration on the back left side of his head.

As members of the public attempted to intervene Burke punched the victim with a closed right hand before he was thrown out of the bar by security.

The victim was left with a black right eye, a 9mm fracture under his left eye and nerve damage to his face in addition to the initial head wound.

Burke’s solicitor submitted a psychologist’s report to the court which revealed the teen had been diagnosed with anxiety and borderline personality disorder.

However, Magistrate Leanne Robinson at Windsor Local Court rejected the application to dismiss the charge under the Mental Health Act due to the seriousness of the assault.

Burke will be sentenced at Windsor Local Court on June 24.
