Five Hills firefighters will put their training to the test in 1504 stair climb on Sunday.

Evan Lister and Zac Young, from Glenhaven Rural Fire Brigade, Matt Tregear and Kane Chamberlain from Rouse Hill Rural Fire Brigade, and Nick Taylor from the Maroota South Rural Fire Brigade will climb all 98 floors of the Sydney Tower Eye in their full firefighting kits as part of the Fire Fighters Climb for Motor Neurone Disease.

More than 440 firefighters will take part in this year’s climb, which has already raised almost $364,000 for vital research at the Macquarie University MND Research Centre.

Mr Lister, who will lead the team of five up the Eye, said the climb was a “great opportunity to participate in a worthwhile cause”.

“This will also serve as a test of endurance for our fire fighters as they prepare for the coming bushfire season, It will be a gruelling challenge, however it is nothing in comparison to the challenge patients with MND face every day,” he said.
