Castle Hill fireman and Fire and Rescue NSW station officer Brett Johnson has received a State award for his commitment to safety.
FRNSW Commissioner Greg Mullins presented Station Officer Johnson with The Commissioner’s 2016 Safety Award today in recognition of his commitment to promoting home fire safety within the community as well as mentoring his fellow firefighters.
Mr Johnson also writes a fire column for the Hills Shire Times fortnightly.
The Commissioner’s Safety Awards program recognises FRNSW workers who make an outstanding contribution to improving or promoting safety within the workplace.
Commissioner Mullins said FRNSW employees put their lives on the line every day and
safety was paramount.
“As an organisation, safety has to underpin everything we do. We want to honour, encourage and promote the actions of those who make a special effort to make firefighters’ jobs safer,” he said.
Commissioner Mullins said Station Officer Johnson had consistently demonstrated a strong safety ethos both within and outside FRNSW.
“Station Officer Johnson has set a positive example, providing mentorship to other firefighters on how they can proactively spread the home fire safety message within the community,” he said.
“As a station commander, he continually embodies FRNSW’s commitment to safety as a priority, and this plays a pivotal role in the development of positive safety attitudes among his fellow firefighters.”
