THE ICE rink is gone and construction work has commenced on Norwest’s newest residential high-rise tower at the Esplanade on Norwest Lake.
Developer Capital Bluestone commenced construction on the $280 million development in October last year, following the demolition of the Sydney Ice Rink.
Despite the fact that a tower crane is yet to be installed, Capital Bluestone spokeswoman Stephanie Mearns said more than 180 apartments — including two penthouses worth between $2.5 and $3 million — have already sold.
“With the first stage of construction being demolition, this is on track and well underway on site,” Ms Mearns said.
“There is one level of underground car parking, so excavation and piling will be the first activity once demolition is complete.
“A tower crane will be on site and locals will see the building start to come up out of the ground this year.”
Executive chairman Steve Grant described the development as the first resort-style complex for Norwest, “with a diverse mix of apartments, a host of resident-only features including an outdoor cinema, boutique workspaces, waterfront dining and retail areas”.
“Through game-changing residential developments like the resort-style Esplanade, Norwest is entering a time that will shift the area’s status as solely a business park to a lifestyle destination and urban hub,” he said.
Commercial space was quickly snapped up in the site, while Capital Bluestone revealed retail and hospitality will also be announced.
PRDnationwide Norwest David Inkster said the year has already kicked off to a great start for the Esplanade.
“We’ve been surprised at how busy the display suite has been this year,” he said.
“A lot of people have been motivated to find out where prices are at and put down a deposit.
“There’s a lot of interest from both owner-occupiers and investors.”
The Esplanade was approved in October 2016.
