Carlingford Mum of three killed in Queensland crash

A young Sydney mother-of-three has been remembered as somebody “always wanting to help others less fortunate than herself” after she was tragically killed in a vehicle collision.

A mother who died in a crash in Queensland has been identified as Carlingford mother Mersina Axiom.

At 11pm last Friday, Ms Axiom, 36, was driving in her minivan along a main road in Redland Bay, about one hour south-east of Brisbane, when a vehicle struck the rear of another sedan travelling in the same direction.

The sedan then veered into the path of her oncoming van according to initial police investigations.

Ms Axiom died at the scene.

She had previously lived in Carlingford in Sydney’s northwest and was an active member in the community, involved in various Sydney charities including Bears of Hope which supports families who have suffered the loss of a baby.

In the last few years she moved to Redlands in Queensland where she got married and gave birth to another baby girl Olivia.

A friend of Ms Axiom’s took to social media paying tribute to her “angel on earth”.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the sad sad news of an angel on earth that has been taken from our world in a tragic car accident late Friday night (...)

“Always wanting to help others less fortunate than herself.

“Anybody that met her will feel the void left by her generosity.

“Mersina may you RIP, fly high and be free.”

Friends and family have paid their heartfelt tributes to Ms Axiom.

“So so sad to lose such an angel. Thank you for Mersina for what you brought to my life,” one friend said.

“Such tragic, sad news. Mersina was a beautiful soul. Sending love and hugs to her family,” another said.

The forensic crash unit is investigating.

Ms Axiom leaves behind three children, Jack, Haylee and Olivia, and her husband Anthony.

A Go Fund Me page has been created to assist the family, with $13,425 raised in two days.
