A western Sydney salesman planted a mobile phone on a bedroom cabinet to secretly record a non-consensual sex tape with a woman – before sending her a screenshot of the video.

Benjamin John Griffiths, 47, pleaded guilty to two counts of intentionally recording intimate images without consent and one charge of intentionally distributing images without consent.

Facts state the Richmond man hid the camera before engaging in consensual sexual intercourse with the victim, who was unaware she was being recorded in 2019.

In March, Griffiths sent the woman a screenshot of her “bent over, engaging in a sexual act” from 2019, according to facts.

“Well who is a complete and utter prick,” she wrote on Facebook Messenger to Griffiths.

Griffiths promised he would “delete them all”.

The victim then wrote, “you are so dishonest, you took all that without my knowledge, goodbye Ben”.

Griffiths replied, “you wouldn’t have allowed it regardless”.

The woman told police she had lost all trust.

“You are the worst kind of person,” the victim said. “How f*cking dare you do it. Don’t contact me or my family again”.

Griffiths removed the naked image from the chat, facts state.

The Daily Telegraph recently exposed the risks of naked images online which can be used as “sextortion”.

The victim reported the crime to police on March 30, telling an officer Griffiths was never given permission to record sex and “felt violated” by the incident.

Police arrested Griffiths at his Richmond address on April 19, who admitted to filming the sex without consent.

He told police he planted a “work” mobile phone on a bedroom cabinet, before pressing record prior to engaging in sex with the victim.

Griffiths was granted bail the same day.

Police discovered three sex videos with the victim in total after seizing Griffiths laptop and phone, according to facts.

He was placed on a two-year AVO for the victim’s protection.

Griffiths will face Windsor Local Court on June 8 for sentence.
