Plans for a 132-bed residential aged care facility in a residential street have been scrutinised by a Sydney MP.

Plans for a 132-bed residential aged care facility in Carlingford have been objected to by Baulkham Hills state Liberal MP David Elliott.
The residential development at 43-47 Murray Farm Rd, Carlingford, which was originally submitted by Japara Healthcare, proposed a new “state-of-the-art residential care facility … located near commercial, medical and public transport”.

“The proposed development seeks to demolish existing structures at the site and construct a
three storey Residential Care Facility at the site with 37 basement carparking space,” a development consultant on the project said in the application.
The proposal also earmarks the construction of a cafe, administrative areas, a wellness centres, hair salon, a kiosk and gardens.
In a letter to Sydney Central City Planning Panel chairwoman Mary-Lynne Taylor, Mr Elliott said he expressed his opposition to the proposal, and any future ones, “which refuses to accommodate or implement long-awaited infrastructure to support the needs of existing and future Carlingford residents”.

“The area is already unable to cope with the current levels of traffic and it must be stressed that congestion is exacerbated exponentially during morning and afternoon peak times, particularly near and on Oakes and Jenkins roads,” he said.
“The construction of a part three- and part four-storey residential care facility comprising of 132 beds with basement parking is out of character with the existing neighbourhood.
“My constituents are entitled to settle in communities that are liveable, vibrant and safe, and that have services and amenities that meet their economic, environmental and social needs.”
A spokesman for Japara Healthcare said the company was no longer involved in the development, and did not wish to comment.
