Spencer Street: Man accused of supplying drugs in southwest Sydney

Another person has been charged with being part of a criminal group after police pulled over a Toyota Camry in southwest Sydney, allegedly uncovering $350,000 worth of cocaine in the back seat.

A third man is accused of distributing drugs throughout southwest Sydney after police allegedly found $350,000 worth of cocaine in a backpack.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Thursday and police searched a Fairfield apartment, allegedly uncovering two laser pointers and electronic devices.

He has been charged with supplying a commercial quantity of drugs and participating in a criminal group activity and is due to appear in Fairfield Local Court today.

The arrest comes after officers charged two men allegedly involved in the drug syndicate last month.

Police arrested Devante Phabmixay, a 25-year-old from Guildford, and Phanna Lao, a 20-year-old from Canley Heights, on January 14, when officers on a routine patrol found 1kg of cocaine - valued at $350,000 - in a backpack inside their Toyota Camry.

Later that day, police executed two search warrants at properties in south-west Sydney. They dismantled an alleged clandestine drug laboratory at a home in Chipping Norton, and found methamphetamine, cocaine, cash, ammunition and an extendable baton at a home in Fairfield.

Both men were also charged with supply prohibited drug - large commercial quantity, but Phabmixay was charged with two additional counts of possess prohibited drugs for allegedly having 1 gram of cocaine and 1 gram of MDMA.

Phabmixay and Lao’s cases are currently before the court and they remain in custody.
