Prairie Vale Rd, Bossley Park: Man has car stolen at gunpoint while sitting at traffic lights

Police allege a terrifying overnight carjacking took place in a southwest Sydney suburb, in which a man had two men enter his car at a set of traffic lights, forcing him out at gunpoint.

A man was carjacked at gunpoint in a southwest Sydney suburb overnight while sitting at a set of traffic lights, police say.

About 11.30pm on Tuesday, a 29-year-old man was driving on Prairie Vale Rd, Bossley Park, when he came to a stop to turn left onto Cowpasture Rd, police said they have been told.

While stopped at the lights, two men approached the driver’s side door and demanded the 29-year-old man exit the vehicle, according to police.

Police will allege when the man refused to get out his Mazda 3 sedan one of the men opened the passenger’s side door before flashing a firearm at him.

The man then got out of the sedan, before the two men took the car and drove off.

After the alleged carjacking, the 29-year-old man managed to flag down another car and contact police.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command have started to investigate, and would like to speak to two men they believe may be able to assist.

One man has been described as being of caucasian appearance, between 170-175cm tall, of thin build, with brown short hair and wearing an earring.

The second man was described as being of caucasian appearance, between 170-175cm tall, and of slim build.

Investigators are also keen for anyone with dashcam footage or any further information to come forward.
