A man has been charged after police allegedly discovered an arsenal of weapons, ammunition and illicit drugs at a home in Old Guildford.
In late September, National Anti-Gang Squad (NAGS) investigators executed a search at a home on The Promenade before arresting 27-year-old Emad Mahfoud.
It is alleged that during the search, police seized an AR-15 semiautomatic assault rifle, two automatic pistols, a silencer, knuckle dusters, a large quantity of ammunition and 3.14 grams of cannabis.
Mahfoud was consequently taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with 14 counts including; possession of an unauthorised prohibited firearm, not keeping a firearm safely (prohibited firearm), acquire prohibited firearm part/no authority to do so, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and possess prohibited drug.
He appeared in Fairfield Local Court on September 30 where he was formally refused bail to reappear before the same court on October 28.
Bail was not applied for and formally refused this morning, with the matter adjourned until November 25.
A plea of guilty has been indicated but not formally entered onto record.
Investigations are continuing.
NAGS was established in 2014 as a multi-agency law enforcement task force targeting organised criminal syndicates, including those involving members of outlaw motorcycle gangs.
