Police have charged a Lurnea teenager after allegedly finding a bag containing cash and cocaine during a routine random breath test.
Officers patrolling the Heckenberg area initially stopped the driver of a Nissan Pulsar on Jagungal Place, with checks revealing the man behind the wheel – Ibrahim Mustafa – was driving while disqualified.
The teenagers alleged attempts to hide a black bag in his possession resulted in police conducting a search of the Pulsar, with police allegedly seizing resealable bags of cocaine totalling 6.13 grams, a mobile phone, and $700 in cash.
The 18-year-old plumber was arrested by police and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with five counts including; driving while license application refused, supply prohibited drugs, possess prohibited drugs, deal with property proceeds of crime, and goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen.
Mustafa was formally granted bail in early October to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Friday, October 23, with a representative entering a plea of not guilty for all charges.
The matter was adjourned and is expected to be heard again at the same court on December 4, 2020.
Mustafa’s arrest came as part of Operation Saber III, which saw officers from all nine commands and specialist units in the South West Metropolitan Region, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, and Police Transport Command deployed across Sydney’s south west for the 24 hours across Thursday October 8 and Friday October 9.
During the high-visibility operation, police charged 57 people for more than 60 offences, including knife, weapons, traffic and drug offences.
Police also seized 15 knives and issued 183 infringement notices as well as issued 202 move-on directions.
