Two men have faced a southwest Sydney court accused of sharing images of child sex abuse over a popular messaging app.
Bahnam Azeez, a 20-year-old from Liverpool, and Manoeil Hanna, a 19-year-old from Bonnyrigg Heights, have both been charged with two offences related to the sharing of child exploitative material.
Police allege the men transmitted multiple child porn files using the chat app Facebook Messenger on March 28, 2019. The charges allege the men both had transmitted the material and had it in their possession.
The two men are currently on bail and presented to Liverpool Local Court for a brief mention on March 9.
Neither man has entered any pleas, and their defence lawyer asked for a three-week adjournment.
“The nature of the allegation would require forensic analysis of computer equipment,” Magistrate Imad Abdul-Karim said.
The defence said the forensic analysis had already been completed, and that the time would help determine if the case will be escalated to a higher court.
The prosecution did not oppose the adjournment.
“They are still going through investigations,” he said.
Magistrate Abdul-Karim adjourned the case and Azeez and Hanna are scheduled to return to Liverpool Local Court on March 30.
