One of the biggest names in Sydney’s charcoal chicken scene says customers can expect more convenience in the future after the widely successful launch of its first Australian drive-thru.
A cult favourite among charcoal chicken enthusiasts, El Jannah opened its first drive-thru in Smithfield earlier this month with an express menu that includes its famous chicken offerings, rolls, burgers and its latest hit — fried chicken.
The brand is famous for its addictive garlic sauce and Lebanese-style cuisine.
Operations manager Charles Estephan said the western Sydney drive-thru was serving an average of 500 cars per day.
The store’s August 8 launch was a massive success, with queues “out onto the street” and traffic controllers in place to manage the flow, he said.
“In terms of the experience of our first drive-thru, it was great and I think we performed really well,” Mr Estephan said.
“I think the reaction for the first drive-thru was really positive. It really caters to what people are after, especially these days during the (COVID-19 pandemic).”
He said customers can expect more drive-thru restaurants from El Jannah in the future.
“It’s been a really great experience for us and for our customers. We’re both really excited from this milestone and what’s to come from it.”
The chicken giant opened its first store in Granville in 1998 and now has stores in Newtown, Kogarah, Punchbowl, Blacktown, Penrith and Campbelltown.
And, in good news for its ever-growing following, El Jannah is set to expand its reach with the launch of a full-store format in Burwood later this year and a second location in the pipeline too.
NewsLocal can exclusively reveal El Jannah will open a dine-in store in Liverpool in Sydney’s southwest.
Mr Estephan said planning was currently in the early stages.
