A former Marconi FC football player has landed in court after driving while suspended on multiple occasions and twice getting behind the wheel with drugs in his system.

Nathan Jagelman appeared before Magistrate Suzanne Seagrave at Fairfield Local Court charged with a series of driving and drug offences.

The Hurstville man has made headlines in the past playing striker for Wollongong United FC and Marconi FC in various NSW state league competitions.

Documents tendered to the court reveal the 28-year-old was charged last December for driving with an illicit drug in his blood on two occasions just days apart.

He was first caught by police in Redfern on December 18 driving with ice and cocaine in his system.

Three days later, he was stopped for random testing on Stoney Creek Rd in Beverly Hills and returned a positive reading for ice.

He told police at the time he had last used drugs six days earlier.

He came under police notice again on June 16 and June 28 for driving while suspended in Merrylands West and Greenacre respectively, and on July 22 for the same offence, this time in South Granville.

According to the police fact sheet, patrolling officers noticed Jagelman driving along Chiswick Rd in South Granville and parking his car outside a property.

When police approached and questioned him, he stated, “What car? I wasn’t driving.”

Days earlier, he had been given a court attendance notice for drug possession after being spotted by police at a location known “to be frequented by drug users or persons purchasing and selling drugs” in South Granville, according to the police fact sheet.

Police were patrolling on July 16 when they noticed Jagelman and a woman outside a unit block on Chiswick Rd and approached the footballer, who told officers his brother-in-law lived at the address.

Jagelman appeared at Fairfield Local Court, where his matter was adjourned.

“Police explained that the specific unit block was well known for drug supply. The accused appeared nervous and kept looking towards the unit where (the woman) had walked,” the police fact sheet stated.

When officers indicated they intended to search him, Jagelman began displaying “aggressive body language; standing tall with his chest out stating, ‘don’t touch me!’ in an aggressive tone”, the fact sheet continued.

He eventually consented to being searched at which point police found two clear resealable bags containing ice, two bags containing cocaine and a glass ice pipe in his satchel.

He was charged with possessing one gram of ice and 1.6g of cocaine, and entered pleas of guilty.

Jagelman has also pleaded guilty to three counts of drive motor vehicle while licence suspended and two counts of drive vehicle illicit drug present in blood.

His solicitor today told the court his client was seeking a merit assessment.

The matter was adjourned to August 19 at Parramatta Local Court.
