The family of a young father who was stabbed to death in the state’s west have set up a fundraiser as tributes continue to flow, while the accused murderer has been refused bail.

Samuel Allen was 22-years-old when his life was cut short after he was stabbed in the stomach during an alleged altercation on Gladstone St, Mudgee on May 17.

A friend of Samuel’s drove him to the nearby Mudgee Hospital, but he died from his injuries before the police arrived at 11pm.

In response to Samuel’s death, detectives from Orana Mid-Western Police District formed Strike Force Dunedin with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

An investigation was launched into the incident and about 3.20pm on May 18, 28-year-old Adam Cordon was arrested by Queensland Police at Toowoomba Police Station.

Since the incident, residents of Mudgee have left behind flowers and tributes for Samuel.

One local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told this masthead the community was “in shock” over Samuel’s death.

Samuel’s sister-in-law Taylor Black has launched a fundraiser to “honour him” and help ease the financial burden.

“As you all know Samuel was tragically taken from us all so soon,” Ms Black wrote on the fundraising page.

“In honour of him I’ve made a page to raise money for Samuel’s son Lincoln … so he can have everything he needs to continue this life without his dad!”

At the time of writing, $1860 of the $4000 goal has been raised.
