Newell Highway: Woman dies after car collides with truck 25km south of Forbes

A woman has died after her car collided with a truck in the state’s central west. Here’s what we know.

A woman has died after her car collided with a truck near Forbes on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, about 25km south of Forbes, about 9.25am following reports of a crash.

Central West Police District officers attended and found a truck and a car had collided.

The driver of the car – a woman – died at the scene.

The woman has not been formally identified.

The driver of the truck – a 65-year-old man – will be taken for mandatory testing.

Police established a crime scene and began inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with assistance from Crash Investigation Unit officers.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The Newell Highway is closed at Forbes and diversions are in place.
