NSW Ambulance have responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Wednesday afternoon on the Mitchell Highway near Trangie.
Just before 1:30pm, six paramedic road crews were sent to the incident which involved two utes and a car, with a special medical team on board the Toll Rescue helicopter.
When arriving to the scene, paramedics treated three patients for various injuries, each in a stable condition.
Two females, believed to be in their 80s and 50s, were transported to Dubbo Hospital with one woman experiencing severe abdominal pain and the other facing neck and shoulder pain.
A female in her 60s, struggling with chest pain, was taken to Orange Hospital.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Lochlan Rush spoke to media about the incident.
“When paramedics arrived (to the scene), there were multiple patients to assess after a ute had collided with two stationary vehicles,” Inspector Rush said.
“It’s understood two of the vehicles had pulled off the highway to assist horses on the road when a ute collided with them from behind.
“Accidents like this can often result in critical injuries, it is incredibly lucky the people involved in this collision weren’t more seriously hurt.”
