Operation Spoiler: Three charged with traffic offences following Mudgee road blitz
Police have cracked down on drivers in the state’s central west, issuing charges and infringement notices during a “high visibility” road operation. Here’s what happened.

Three people have been charged with traffic offences after 655 random breath tests and five random drug tests were conducted during a four-day operation in the state’s west.
Operation Spoiler ran from Thursday to Monday, targeting criminal activity, anti-social behaviour, drink driving and road-related offences across Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylestone, Kandos, Ulan, Cope and Lue.
During the high visibility operation, police conducted 655 random breath tests, five random drug tests, while 22 speeding offences were detected, 24 cautions were issued along with three suspension notices, two defects, and 50 traffic infringement notices.
Police were patrolling Cope Rd, Cope, when they detected a Honda Coupe travelling at 166km/h in a 100km/h zone about 3.35pm on Friday.
The 24-year-old male driver was given an infringement notice for his vehicle exceeding speed over 45km/h.
His licence was also suspended on the spot.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Command Acting inspector Stephen Wynne said police would continue to run road operations to ensure motorists were complying with road rules.
“There is no place on our roads for dangerous driving behaviour, drink or drug driving or any acts that puts other motorists at risk,” Acting inspector Wynne said.
