A frantic search is underway for a teenage boy who disappeared at a popular swimming spot at Dubbo.
Volunteers joined police and other emergency services at Sandy Beach, a popular area on the banks of the Macquarie River, on Monday afternoon.
They were called to the riverbank about 550pm following reports a teenage boy had vanished while in the water.
The 16-year-old is described as being of African appearance, about 175cm tall and of a solid build.
He was last seen wearing blue Adidas shorts.
Orana Mid-Western officers, police rescue, State Emergency Service and VRA Rescue have commenced the search operation to find the missing boy.
