A Bourke man has faced court charged with a string of firearm supply offences police allege were linked to the operation of a major criminal network which operated out of Sydney’s southwest.
Mitchell Shillingsworth entered no pleas when he appeared in Wellington Local Court on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old was arrested at the Wellington Correctional Centre on Monday and charged with six firearms offences, which included three counts of supplying prohibited firearms to unauthorised persons and three counts of supplying firearms to persons unauthorised to possess them.
Police allege Mr Shillingworth negotiated the sale of firearms — which included a revolver, Glock and two shotguns — to a sophisticated criminal syndicate involved in large-scale drug and firearm supply.
The offences were allegedly committed between October and November last year.
Mr Shillingsworth remains in custody and his case returns to court in January.
