A serial street racer used a GoPro to film three high-speed joy rides. It was only until a woman slammed into a railing with life-threatening injuries, did he get caught.

A 30-year-old Dubbo motorcyclist who filmed himself on three high-speed joy rides where he reached speeds of up to 223km/h has pleaded guilty to a string of driving offences in court.

Joshua Luke Crowe had a GoPro camera attached to his helmet on August 11 when he joined two other riders on a ride from Dubbo to Parkes.

After a woman accompanying Rowe collided with railing and ended up in Liverpool Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police obtained GoPro footage they described in court documents as “disturbing and graphic”.

The footage showed three more rides Crowe and other riders embarked on.

On August 1, Crowe was filmed doing 195km/h in a 100km/h zone as he headed from Brocklehurst towards Mogriguy Creek.

During that ride, police said Crowe reached 211km/h at one point, when he overtook another rider.

That evening Crowe hit the Mitchell Highway for a ride to Narromine at 145km/h in a 110km/h zone. Footage showed he overtook two other riders at 200km/h.

When the riders arrived in Narromine, police said they did laps around the town, including past the police station.

During the ride back to Dubbo, footage showed Crowe overtaking two riders and a semi-trailer at 173km/h.

The next day Crowe and other riders travelled along the Golden Highway at high speeds. At one point, Crowe was doing 215km/h when he overtook a car at Sandy Creek.

When the group of riders stopped for a drink at a pub in Ballimore, they went straight through a railway level crossing without stopping at the Federation Street and Golden Highway intersection.

After their break in Ballimore, the group travelled through Elong Elong at 160km/h, even reaching 223km/h at one point.

Police said Crowe was also seen engaging in a street race with another rider, where they travelled side-by-side at speeds of up to 200km/h.

In Dubbo Local Court Crowe pleaded guilty to a string of driving charges related to the various joy rides, including multiple counts of negligent driving, organising or promoting a race between vehicles and dangerous driving.

Magistrate Gary Wilson requested a sentencing assessment report and set a date in December for Crowe to be sentenced.

Reckless driving offenders in NSW face up to 12 months in jail when they’ve committed the offence more than once.
