Callan Dickinson: Dubbo dad found with cocaine
A young father-of-two stayed on his knees while being questioned by police on a night out in Dubbo. It wasn’t until he stood up, did they know why.

A 22-year-old father of two has been spared a conviction for drug possession after police found him with a bag of cocaine after a night out.
Callan Wayne Dickinson and a woman were spotted by police in an alcove on Macquarie Street in the early hours of September 5.
In court documents, police said they stopped to see what the pair were up to because they noticed Dickinson kneeling on the ground with the woman in front of him.
According to police, Dickinson stayed kneeling as the pair explained they had stopped to get food and for Dickinson to urinate.
When Dickinson finally stood up, police noticed a line of white powder on his leg.
A search was conducted and a bag with cocaine in it was found in Dickinson’s wallet.
Dickinson told police he purchased the drug from someone at the Pastoral Hotel for $300.
He pleaded guilty to one count of possessing 0.79 grams of cocaine when he faced Dubbo Local Court.
Defence lawyer Thomas Payne told the court Dickinson had no criminal record and was a hard worker.
“He’s a single parent who has two children,” Mr Payne said.
“He does have a history of mental illness, with depression and anxiety.”
Magistrate Gary Wilson did not record a conviction against Dickinson, who was instead handed a conditional release order to be of good behaviour for 10 months.
