One of the two bushfires burning in and around Goonoo Forest north of Dubbo is yet to be contained.

More than 200 hectares of private property has been damaged following the outbreak of two fires over the weekend.

On Saturday, the fires were reported close to each other on a private property which also impacted 23 hectares of the neighbouring Goonoo Forest, 40 kilometres north of Dubbo.

Orana Rural Fire Service (RFS) district 2IC and team district services co-ordinator Mark Pickford said one of the fires was yet to be contained.

“One fire has been completely contained, and the other one still needs to be fully contained,” Mr Pickford said.

He said fire investigators had been on site on Monday to determine what caused the fire.

National Park crews, aviation crews, and the Orana fire department collaborated to contain the fire.

“All the volunteers and required assistance did very well, considering the weather,” Mr Pickford said.
