A western NSW woman allegedly chucked a can of rum through a police car window while they were arresting a man accused of assaulting officers, putting the much-needed vehicle out of commission indefinitely.
Evelyn Williams, 52, was charged with destroying or damaging property worth more than $2000 after she allegedly smashed the NSW Police vehicle window as they attempted to effect an arrest in Gilgandra overnight.
Officers had gone to speak with Kyle Smith, 35, at a Gilgandra home when police allege he ran, sparking a brief foot pursuit.
“The man jumped several fences and was arrested a short time later on Waugan St, Gilgandra,” a police statement said.
“Following a struggle the 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station
“During his arrest he allegedly spat several times at the senior constable and probationary constable,” she stated.
Smith was charged with four counts of assaulting police and hindering police, he did not apply for bail at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday and it was formally refused.
Williams was granted strict bail to report to Wyong police, where she will relocate out of Gilgandra, and to abstain from drugs and alcohol.
The matters return to Dubbo Local Court on July 2.
