A Dubbo sheep shearer who a magistrate said wasn’t “a stranger” to drink driving has been caught yet again, a court has heard.

Ethan Brown, 29, fronted Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, representing himself as he entered a guilty plea to mid-range drink driving.

According to documents tendered to court, Brown was driving his Toyota HiLux on the Golden Highway about 6.30pm on November 4.

He was pulled over by police for a random breath test to which he recorded a positive reading before he was arrested and taken to Dubbo police station.

Back at the station, Brown underwent a breath analysis, returning a reading of 0.098.

He revealed to police he had consumed “about” five schooners of Great Northern Beer at the ‘HAIR of the DOG INN’ in Ballimore before driving his HiLux.

Court documents detailed Brown’s prior history which explained prior charges of mid-range drink driving from 2013 and 2014.

In court on Wednesday, Brown was questioned by Magistrate Gary Wilson who said “you’re not a stranger to this type of offending”.

Brown accepted Magistrate Wilson’s comment, however saying “it’s been a while” since his last offence.

“One would’ve thought you’d learn from previous experiences,” Magistrate Wilson said.

“You’re certainly not going to be afforded leniency [on this occasion].”

As a result, Brown was disqualified from driving for six months – backdated to November 4 – and handed a 12 month interlock licence with a $1000 fine.
