Dubbo’s newest car wash is on track to open at the end of March and the men pouring $1.5 million into the development say it’ll be unlike any other.
“The name is going to be pretty unique, it’s going to be called DubVegas car wash,” business owner David Gleeson told The Dubbo News.
“We’re going to have it lit up.”
Mr Gleeson said he and business partner Tim Beatty purchased the old Cameron’s Car Centre site on the Mitchell Highway two years ago and have always wanted to put a car wash there.
“As soon as we got the development application approved and the construction certificate we started.
“It’ll serve not only Dubbo, but people from all out west.”
The car wash will have at least two staff on site seven days a week and operate 24 hours a day, with Mr Gleeson planning on recruiting 12 new staff members.
“We’ve got three self serve bays and one automatic, and four vacuums.
“The auto equipment is Australian-made in Burleigh Heads. The self serve equipment is imported from America, it’s top of the range, the best you can get.”
While Las Vegas might not seem like the most logical place to inspire the name of a car wash, Mr Gleeson said there was a link between the development and sin city.
Car wash trade shows are held in Vegas and Mr Gleeson — who also owns the Crystal Kleen Car Wash on Douglas Mawson Drive — has attended the events in the past.
Many locals have also embraced DubVegas as a nickname for the city.
Mr Gleeson said the official opening would likely be held at the end of March or in April.
