A Dubbo woman who trashed a taxpayer funded quarantine facility while she had Covid has failed to front court after details of her vandalism were revealed for the first time.

Tracey Jenkins, 34, was convicted of property damage and failure to comply with public health order offences in her absence when her case was mentioned in Dubbo Local Court.

In court documents police said Jenkins was forced into temporary quarantine at the Taronga Western Plains Zoo Savannah Cabins after she caught Covid and refused to comply with isolation requirements.

Between 7am and 11:30pm on September 17, after becoming increasingly agitated and angry about being in quarantine, Jenkins vandalised the cabin.

Police said during her tantrum, Jenkins threw a dining table and chairs off a balcony, removed kitchen drawers and kicked them all over the floor, smashed a toaster and put holes in walls.

The following day NSW Health staff expressed concerns about Jenkins’s mental health after she made threats to harm herself.

When asked what her concerns were, Jenkins said “you c***** won’t let me get my stuff from my caravan”.

“We were basically dragged out of our caravan like dogs and put out at this f****** zoo,” she said.

“Who is going to look after my dog.”

After police told Jenkins the dog was being looked after and clothes had been collected, she said neither situation was acceptable.

“I don’t want them clothes, they’re not the ones I wanted,” Jenkins said.

“No c*** can look after my dog like I can.”

According to court documents, Jenkins was later sent to a facility to hospital to have her mental health assessed and when police went into the cabin she was staying in, they discovered more damage had been done.

A lounge chair was damaged, food and drinks were spilt across the furniture and draws from a fridge and oven trays had been removed and thrown around the cabin.

In court Magistrate Gary Wilson asked if Taronga Western Plains Zoo had requested compensation.

The court heard no compensation had been sought.

Jenkins was fined $800 for damaging the cabin and $500 for not complying with the health order.
