Balmain

Officers from the Marine Area Command are investigating the death of a woman on a boat in Balmain. Emergency services were called to a marina on Roberts St just after 4pm on Saturday, February 2, after a woman was found unconscious in the bathroom of a charter boat. The 39-year-old woman from Berowra died at the scene. Officers from the Marine Area Command attended along with a Fire and Rescue Hazmat crew. A crime scene was established and an investigation into the woman’s death is continuing. Police do not believe the woman’s death is suspicious or drug-related. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Auburn

Officers are investigating after a man suffered a fractured skull after being hit with a hammer in an alleged road rage assault last week. Emergency services were called to Ettalong Rd, Auburn, at 3.40pm on January 31, where they found a 65-year-old man with serious head injuries. The man was found lying in the street next to his Holden utility. Officers from Auburn Police Area Command were told two men became involved in a fight after a road rage incident. Police said the man, from Guildford, was allegedly struck with a hammer. The man was treated at the scene and taken to Westmead Hospital. He was treated for a fractured skull and has since left hospital. Officers arrested a 25-year-old man in a Volkswagen Golf parked nearby, after receiving information by witnesses. Officers found a hammer inside the vehicle and seized it for forensic examination. The man, also from Guildford, was taken to Auburn Police Station. He was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent. He was refused bail and appeared in Burwood Local Court on Friday. Investigators are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam vision of the incident to contact Auburn Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Zetland

A 31-year-old woman has been charged following a suspected domestic-violence related incident in Zetland last week. Emergency services were called to a unit on Defries Ave, Zetland, at around 2.15am on February 2, after reports a man had been stabbed. Emergency services located the man, 33, inside the unit suffering stab wounds.

He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. The woman was also taken to hospital for treatment for unknown injuries. Officers from Redfern Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations and at around 8.15am that same day, the woman was taken to Redfern Police Station. The woman was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and contravene prohibition/restriction in apprehended violence order.

Strathfield

Police have uncovered a hydroponic cannabis set up after a house caught ablaze in Strathfield last week. Emergency services were called to a home on Myrna Rd, Strathfield, following reports of a fire. Fire and Rescue services attended the home and extinguished the blaze.

There was no one inside the home at the time and no injuries have been reported to police. The house had sustained significant damage. Officers from Auburn confirmed a hydroponic set up was found inside the property. A crime scene has been established and police urge anyone with information to come forward.

Haymarket

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command are appealing for information after a man was injured at Haymarket.

A 28-year-old man was walking through a pedestrian tunnel attached to Central Station at around 9.24am on Sunday, when he was approached by an unknown man.

Police were told the two men had a verbal altercation before the unknown man armed with a knife, slashed the 28-year-old in the face.

He then left the scene on a bicycle.

The injured man was treated at the scene for facial lacerations, before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
