Police seek man after Surry Hills attempted robbery

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they are searching for as part of an investigation into an attempted robbery in Surry Hills this month.

Police are searching for a man as part of an investigation into an alleged attempted robbery in Surry Hills earlier this month.

An image of a man who detectives believe can assist with their inquiries has been released to the public, as they search for the offender who allegedly assaulted another man at the corner of Smith and Reservoir streets about 12.30am on Friday, April 12.

Police said the victim was walking south on Smith St when he was approached by a man near a small park at the intersection with Reservoir St.

It is alleged the victim was punched in the face, knocking him to the ground.

His attacker demanded cash but the victim managed to flee the scene.

CCTV footage released on Wednesday shows a man wearing a long-sleeve Arsenal football shirt, black shorts and grey sneakers.

He appears to have dark skin, stubble and mid-length black hair.
