A train has crashed into a car at a rail crossing on the Central Coast, suspending rail services in both directions.
About 6.05pm on Friday, emergency services responded to reports of a car being hit by a train at Woy Woy.
“Upon arrival, officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District found a black Honda had been hit on the crossing at Rawson Road, Woy Woy by a passenger train,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.
“Both north and south train lines between Hornsby and Gosford on the Central Coast and the Newcastle line are expected to be closed for several hours.”
A video capturing the moment of impact, taken by Woy Woy resident Joel Bodie, shows sirens going off before a man yells “oh no, watch out, watch out” as the northbound train smashes into the vehicle on the crossing.
Initial reports indicate the driver of the Honda had exited the vehicle before the train hit.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said crews had treated a woman, aged in her 70s, for chest pains and transported her to Gosford Hospital.
No other injuries have been reported at this stage.
It is understood buses have been deployed for passengers.
