A former Central Coast Grammar junior school teacher has pleaded not guilty to allegedly trying to procure a child for unlawful sexual activity.
David Christopher Beeby, of Chittaway Bay, was excused from appearing at Gosford Local Court on Thursday, April 18, where his solicitor formally entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Charge sheets tendered in court allege the 39-year-old attempted to procure a child aged between 14 and 16 for unlawful sex some time between 11.30pm on January 24 and 12.30am on January 25.
His matter was adjourned to the same court on June 6 where Mr Beeby has again been excused from attending if he is legally represented.
Mr Beeby was a junior school teacher for Central Coast Grammar but left earlier this year.
Principal Phil O’Regan sent a letter home to parents confirming Mr Beeby had been charged with a criminal offence but reassured them the allegation had absolutely nothing to do with any students at the school.
“As the matter is before the courts, there are limits on what can be said and we also have limited information as we are not central to police inquiries,” Mr O’Regan wrote to parents.
“To be absolutely clear, police have assured us that the charges do not involve any students at CCGS.”
