An 18-year-old P-plate driver, who had his licence suspended on the spot after police claim they clocked him travelling a blistering 192km/h in a 50km/h zone on the Central Coast, is yet to enter a plea.

Hamish Duggan, of Hamlyn Terrace, was excused from attending Wyong Local Court on Monday where his solicitor Triston Appleton applied for an adjournment.

Mr Appleton sought more time for further “representations” with the police.

Representations are essentially a series of discussions between lawyers and prosecutors to negotiate the potential downgrading charges or agreeing on a set of facts.

Duggan was charged with driving in a manner dangerous and exceeding the speed by more than 45km/h when Traffic & Highway Patrol officers allegedly detected him travelling 192km/h in a 50km/h zone.

The officers were conducting speed enforcement duties on Hakone Rd, Woongarrah, near the sports fields about 9.10pm on Thursday, August 1, when they allegedly detected Duggan driving a 1999 Toyota Camry more than 140km/h over the signposted limit.

He was stopped and produced his NSW provisional driver’s licence, which was immediately suspended.

It came a day after a 19-year-old female driver allegedly killed her younger brother in a crash just 2km away at Charmhaven.

About 1.30am on Wednesday, July 31, emergency services were called following reports of a station wagon leaving the Pacific Highway and colliding heavily with a tree on the side of the road.

When Tuggerah Lakes Police arrived they found a 17-year-old male passenger had died at the scene.

His sister was taken to Gosford Hospital and later charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death, and driving while suspended.

She remains before the courts.

Duggan, meanwhile, returns to court on October 28 when he is expected to enter pleas.
