We’ve all been there before but when Tammy Capper saw a photo of herself at Christmas she decided “enough is enough”.

With high blood pressure, a poor diet and no exercise Tammy Capper was heading towards a stroke.
Her doctor was telling her she needed to make some changes but the final straw was a photo of herself at Christmas in 2017.
“I was completely shocked at how big I looked,” she said.
“I decided I needed to do something about my weight and take back control of my health.”
Ms Capper said “enough is enough” and ordered Lite n’ Easy so it would start arriving the first week of January.
After about 10 weeks she got enough energy to start walking and then going to the gym.
Once her husband Danny Capper — who is a chef — started seeing her weight fall off, he started eating Lite n’ Easy and going to a personal trainer with her.
Together the Blue Haven couple have lost a staggering 54kg between them and have never felt better.
“A year later and I am 34 kilos lighter and my husband has lost 20 kilos too,” she said.
“I am off all my blood pressure medication and my doctor says I have reversed the condition simply by losing weight and eating more healthily. I cannot believe how quick and easy it was. I am back in a size 10, my skin is glowing and I feel like I did when I was in my 20s.”
The 43-year-old travel agent said she had her youngest of two children when she was 39.
“I want to be around when she’s older, I feel I have a responsibility to her,” Ms Capper said.
“I feel like I look like a completely different person.”
The couple shared their weight loss story in the hope of inspiring others.
“Friends of mine have passed away,” she said.
“I was feeling really tired and wondering is this how you’re meant to feel when you hit your 40s?
Now she and her husband have the energy to “religiously” go to the gym almost every day.
Her message for anyone else who wants to make a change is: “you need to be the best version of yourself”.
In the two years to 2018 there were 854 hospitalisations on the Central Coast attributed to “high body mass” with a further 980 hospitalisations for people living in the Lake Macquarie Council area — one of the highest in the state.
With New Year’s resolutions on the horizon Ms Capper said it was a perfect time for people to “take matters into their own hands”.
