Update on Central Coast developments from West Gosford Village to Heatherbrae Pies

They’re the developments we have been keeping a close eye on across the coast – Ourimbah’s Heatherbrae Pies, West Gosford Village, The Sawmill at Erina. Now we can reveal when many of them will finally be done.

A new pie king for Ourimbah, revamped shops at West Gosford and a hotel baron’s dream for Umina Beach are just some of the developments underway across the Central Coast.

Some are set to open as early as April, while others have revealed their predicted completion dates as construction forges ahead.

Here’s an update on some of the most highly-anticipated developments under construction.

Church St Terrigal developments

Azure

This apartment development on the corner of Church St and Kurrawyba Ave is taking shape with an expected completion date in “the last quarter of 2022”.

The development includes 23 apartments across five storeys as well as retail space on the ground floor.

Residential and retail advertising is underway with Whome Group and George Brand.

“Set opposite the landmark Crowne Plaza Hotel, Azure contains a collection of just 23 wonderfully generous 2, 3 and 4-bedroom apartments across five storeys, including two sub-penthouses and two breathtaking penthouses as its crowning glory,” the advertising reads.

“The street level encompasses 250 sqm of retail space, activating the building and bringing the site to life, with a beautifully appointed foyer heralding your arrival.”

Across the road, the old Church St carpark is also being transformed into a $10m commercial/shop top housing development, also with five storeys.

The 19.8m development will include 12 apartments as well as two shops on the ground floor and carparking.

Pacific Highway Lisarow upgrade

The $178m upgrade to the Pacific Highway at Lisarow is on track for completion in 2023.

Lisarow’s old rail bridge will be dismantled this weekend to make way for a new bridge with two lanes in each direction.

“This upgrade will improve traffic flow, travel times and safety for the 30,000 motorists who use this 1.6 kilometre section of the Pacific Highway each day,” Central Coast Parliamentary Secretary Adam Crouch said.

“We know traffic is an issue, particularly around the existing narrow bridge near Railway Crescent, and this is an important step in busting that congestion.

“The project has also provided a welcome boost to the local economy, with work for a number of people created, including work for more than 150 different suppliers and contractors.”

Since crews moved traffic onto the first half of the new bridge last year, they have installed 35 bridge piles to support the second half of the new bridge which will be installed in July.

Sapphire, Gosford

Gosford’s longest running, undeveloped hole in the ground is finally taking shape.

The site at 86 John Whiteway Drive is being transformed into the $60m Sapphire development with 97 apartments spread across three towers, along with a pool and gymnasium.

Latest updates reveal that the luxury development is on track for completion at the end of the year.

The site has been plagued by failed developments over the years. The most recent was in May 2018 when previous owners Gosford Property Developments indicated plans for the highly-anticipated Waterview Apartments would not go ahead due to financial issues.

Many people who bought off the plan for Waterview have hung on and hope to be rewarded with Sapphire. Things are looking good.

Lone Pine Plaza, Umina Beach

Arthur Laundy’s shopping centre Lone Pine Plaza is on track for completion in September 2022.

The former run down Foodtown site is well and truly taking shape as a decade long dream for Mr Laundy finally becomes a reality.

The shopping centre will include three buildings for a mix of 12 retailers, anchor tenants IGA and Cellarbrations, a medical centre, space for outdoor dining and a carpark at the front with 103 spaces.

The plans also include a bus bay and pedestrian crossing on Ocean Beach Rd.

Pluim Group, based on the coast, have been tasked with the development by Laundy Hotels.

The development, valued at $10-12 million, is expected to generate 500 jobs over the next year.

West Gosford Village

“The wait is almost over!” the team at West Gosford Village has announced.

“The final building works are nearing completion and our new stores will soon be busy fitting out in preparation for store openings in late April 2022.”

The long awaited upgrade of the old, run down West Gosford shopping centre has seen a revamp of the entire site on the corner of Brisbane Water Dr and Central Coast Highway. It will include a new facade for Coles, along with a childcare centre, new mall, outdoor area and office spaces.

The village will also see the return of Michel’s, Nicks Pizza, Pasta & Kebab, Rajdhani Indian Restaurant and Mighty Gifts /Newsagent.

Mintus Properties Pty Ltd, a privately owned Parramatta developer, bought the site for $23 million from ISPT and Coles in 2019 with a promise to “redevelop and reinvigorate the precinct”.

Heatherbrae Pies, Ourimbah

The red roof is on and you can almost smell the pies about to be baked in Ourimbah.

The Heatherbrae Pies restaurant is nearing completion at the Pacific Highway site and is expected to open in April.

It has been a long journey for the baking gurus, with outlets at Heatherbrae and Sutton Forest, who initially floated an Ourimbah restaurant back in 2011 after receiving approval from the former Wyong Council.

The restaurant will not only bring some of the best baked goods but also 50 local jobs to the region. The jobs are currently being advertised.

The Sawmill, Erina

The Sawmill – a $6m development on the corner of a major intersection at Erina, is on track for completion mid year.

Construction company The Stevens Group is subdividing the land on the corner of the Central Coast Highway and Avoca Dr, into three blocks from four and constructing a BP service station and commercial units as part of stage one. Stage two is yet to be announced.

The Sawmill pays homage to the areas past when in 1879 George Howard and his family established a sawmill with just two employees in Erina.

The service station will be the only fuel stop between Kincumber and West Gosford travelling north along Central Coast Highway.

Industrial units are currently for sale and lease with the promise of occupation by mid 2022.

North Shore Timber & Hardware, Erina

North Shore Timber & Hardware is getting closer to the completion of their new store on The Entrance Rd in mid 2022.

The company has labelled the development, which cannot be missed from the main road, as a shining example of mass timber construction.

“Our new warehouse at Erina will be a showcase of modern timber construction, featuring massive 30 metre span glulam trusses, cross laminated timber walls and floors and clad externally with weathertex cladding.

“The building will virtually run 100% off grid with massive solar array with state of the art batteries.”
