A former male model, nicknamed the “Playboy rapist” for bragging about his glamorous life in which he claimed to have had relationships with Mariah Carey and Barbara Hershey, has been charged with breaching an extended supervision order.

Simon Lowe, also known as Simon Monteiro before he was banned by a judge from using any other alias, was sentenced to 11 years in jail in 2009 over the violent rape of a Sydney woman in 2007.

After his release from custody in 2020, a judge granted authorities a five-year extended supervision order (ESO) to restrict his movements and protect the community.

The conditions of the order were that Lowe only use his real name, have only one mobile phone, and inform his Corrective Services officer of the IP address and serial numbers of any devices he uses to connect to the internet, along with any phone numbers or email addresses, login details and passwords.

However, Lowe breached the order within months by using Facebook under the name of Shaun White to search for at least one female Corrective Services officer and registering with dating websites Plenty of Fish and Matchmaker.

After his arrest, police also seized an iPhone, a Huawei phone, MacBook computer, a HP laptop and several hard drives.

Analysis of the devices revealed Lowe had four social media accounts on various apps, and that he was using six different email addresses and 10 aliases.

After a protracted legal battle Lowe eventually pleaded guilty to five counts of breaching the ESO and three counts of breaching an interim supervision order.

He was sentenced in Gosford District Court in June 2021 to a minimum of two years jail.

On his release, Lowe has continued to fight to have the ESO overturned, claiming it should never have been put on in the first place.

On Wednesday, NSW Police Sex Crimes Squad detectives charged the 57-year-old with yet another breach of his extended supervision order.

About 8.30am, officers attached to State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad, with assistance from Lake Macquarie and Brisbane Water police districts, attended his address in Somersby.

Police arrested Lowe at the premises and took him to Gosford Police Station, where he was charged with one count of failing to comply with the ESO.

Police will allege in court Lowe breached the ESO by failing to accept supervision as per the terms of the order.

He faced Gosford Local Court, where he was refused bail to reappear on September 20.
