Salim Moujalli charged with trying to import 1.6kg of ice through the post
A man who allegedly tried to import 1.6kg of `ice’ hidden in cosmetic bottles through the post has represented himself after telling a court his lawyer was meant to attend.

Dressed in prison greens and sporting a beard and shaved head, a man who allegedly tried to import 1.6kg of the drug `ice’ through the post has faced court.
Salim Moujalli, 41, of Point Frederick, appeared at Gosford Local Court on Friday charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug and supplying a large commercial quantity of prohibited drug.
In May detectives from the Brisbane Water Police District’s drug unit established Strike Force Bocci to investigate the attempted importation of approximately 1.6kg of methylamphetamine oil contained within cosmetic bottles through a postal service, after a package was intercepted by Australian Border Force officers in Western Australia.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force officers arrested Mr Moujalli at a unit on Albany Street about 9.30am on June 11.
Officers conducted a search at the home, where they allegedly located and seized mobile phones, laptops and several unidentified clear liquids, which will be subject to further forensic examination.
Mr Moujalli was taken to Woy Woy Police Station and charged with importing a commercial quantity of drugs and supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.
He appeared at Newcastle Local Court where he was formally bail refused to appear at Gosford Local Court on Friday, August 7.
Mr Moujalli told the court he was represented by solicitor Abigail Bannister who he had spoken to “a couple of weeks ago”.
“I don’t know what’s happened, she should have been there,” Mr Moujalli told the court.
“I will give her a call to find out what’s going on, that’s a bit weird.”
Mr Moujalli was again refused bail to reappear on September 18.
Investigations under Strike Force Bocci are continuing.
