Ninja Warrior training facility opens in North Gosford

It’s got everything a ninja or wannabe ninja needs — the salmon ladder, spider wall and the infamous warped wall. Check out the coast’s new ninja warrior facility.

Ever since watching the first season of Australian Ninja Warrior, Cameron McLintock was hooked.

Since then, he has lived and breathed everything ninja warrior and has brought his passion back to the Central Coast.

The 28-year-old is opening a ninja training facility Australian Warrior Fitness in North Gosford this weekend.

The facility has everything — the salmon ladder, flying bars, spider wall, stepping platforms and plenty of other iconic ninja obstacles including the famous warped wall.

The wall stands 4.25m and is a lot steeper than the one seen on the reality show.

“People just love the wall,” Mr McLintock said.

“It’s not as hard as it looks. It’s just about getting the footing right and the commitment.”

Mr McLintock, from East Gosford, is a born and bred coastie growing up in Killcare before moving to Sydney where he worked as a tradie before discovering a passion for fitness and personal training.

When Ninja Warrior burst onto our TV screens, he dived in.

“After the first season, I just fell in love from the second I saw it,” he said.

“I went to the first ninja gym Five Start Fitness in San Souci where I trained and competed. As I improved and started winning competitions, I realised I’m never going to stop.

“So I made the decision to go hard and start my own business here on the coast.”

Mr McLintock has his sights set on appearing on Australian Ninja Warrior, getting through two audition processes in previous years but not making the final cut. But there’s no plans to give up — in fact a rule at the gym is anyone caught saying “I can’t” has to drop and do 10 burpees.

“We believe that the body can achieve incredible things if the mind allows it,” Mr McLintock said.

Australian Warrior Fitness provides specialised obstacle gym, group classes and personal training for people of all ages and abilities. They will also run school sports programs, school holiday programs and kids parties, from ages five and up.

“We’ve had so much interest, already booking parties and school classes,” Mr McLintock said. “I’ve also had so much support from friends and family, my fiance and mother-in-law are brilliant in terms of the business side of things.’

He said he wanted the gym to be a “home away from home” for people with a sense of community among members.

“Nowadays the gym goer wants something extra and we can do that here,” he said.

Australian Warrior Fitness is having an official opening on Saturday, with Australian Ninja Warrior celebrities Betsy Burnett and Bryson Klein, with classes kicking off from Tuesday October 29.
