Kariong subdivision in Milyerra Road will turn one lot into ten
If you’re looking for a piece of land that will allow you to jump onto the motorway in a flash you could be in luck. A subdivision proposal has been put forward for leafy Kariong.

A rare new subdivision could be opened up off busy Woy Woy Road at Kariong.
The proposal is on exhibition until September 5 and seeks to turn a 6.7 hectare block into sites for ten new homes.
The site is at 11-25 Milyerra Road but also fronts Garlick Street and is zoned for low density residential.
The developer proposes to remove 38 trees from the heavily vegetated site to make way for the subdivision, although some large trees will be retained.
The existing vegetation includes she oakes, scribbly gums, grey gums and paper bark trees.
The arborist's report said that of the 50 trees at 11-25 Milyerra Road that have been assessed there are nine trees that have been identified as having high landscape significance that should be retained.
“A further 22 trees have been identified as worthy of specific consideration for retention/protection if possible,” the report said.
“Two of the trees assessed for this report were identified as recommended for removal regardless of any development proposal.”
The existing single story home on the site would be demolished.
Five blocks would face Milyerra Road and other five would have entry via Garlick Street.
While the land is mapped as being bushfire prone, a bushfire report concluded that the subdivision would be sufficiently far from the surrounding bushland of Brisbane Water National Park to mitigate risks.
The last significant bushfire at Kariong was at the start of January 2006 when homes were threatened and embers caused spot fires.
