Father-of-two Jesse Thompson, 19, was gunned down in the back seat of a Toyota Kluger following a brazen pursuit through the streets of Wyong on the afternoon of July 3, 2017.
Two and a half years later his killers have been convicted of his murder.
Keith Evan, 27, of Wyee, his father John Paul Evans, 53, and a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced next month.
In January, a Supreme Court jury took just three days of deliberation to find all three guilty of Mr Thompson’s murder.
Keith Evans was also convicted of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Jayke Rodgers over another attack just two days earlier.
A police bundle of evidence tendered to Wyong Local Court, as part of the committal, states Mr Rodgers, then 24, had an intimate relationship with Keith Evan’s girlfriend.
In June, 2017, Mr Rodgers received a message from Keith Evan’s girlfriend via social media telling him “Keith’s going away to Nelson Bay this weekend. Come over”.
They arranged to meet but Mr Rodgers told police he started to become suspicious and believed the messages were in fact from Keith Evans.
Mr Rodgers paid a mate $20 to drop him at a Wyee property in the early hours of July 1 but when he approached his secret lover, police state he was attacked from behind by Keith Evans using a brick or similar object in a pillow case.
Mr Rodgers said he was eventually let go and he staggered to a nearby property where he collapsed on the veranda and tapped on the window for help.
He was later taken to hospital where he spent two nights recovering with 28 stitches to his head.
On the day of his release from hospital police alleged Keith Evans, his father John and a woman piled into a Mitsubishi Triton and went looking for Mr Rodgers at Wyong.
Mr Rodgers was in a Toyota Kluger with Mr Thompson and two other men when they were approached by the Triton near Baker Park before shots were fired and a pursuit ensued.
The chase ended at Warner Ave where Keith Evans fired into the Kluger striking Mr Thompson seated in the back seat in the throat.
Another man who was driving also sustained shotgun pellets in his arm.
Keith and John Evans, and the woman, were arrested a few days later and charged with Mr Thompson’s murder.
They will be sentenced in the Supreme Court next month.
