An Erina builder whose package was incorrectly delivered just a few doors away has ended up before the courts for supplying drugs.

Sam Sakr, 26, appeared before Gosford Local Court where he pleaded guilty to one count of supply prohibited drug greater than the indictable quantity but less than the commercial quantity.

The charge states that Sakr supplied 55-57g of methylamphetamine on November 15 and 18 2022 at Erina.

An agreed set of facts tendered to the court reveal that Sakr was detected by police through an Express Post package delivered to the wrong address.

The facts state the package, addressed to “Sam Sakr”, was delivered to a property a few doors up from his home on Thames Dr on November 15 before it was returned due to it being sent to the wrong address.

Police received the parcel at around 1.20pm that day as it was believed to have contained drugs.

An examination revealed a clear plastic resealable bag containing a crystal substance which was identified as 31.6g of methylamphetamine.

At around 2pm, Sakr went to the address where the package was delivered and was told by the residents that it was returned to the sender.

When police officers attended the Erina Post office that afternoon, Sakr walked in to inquire about his package that was delivered to the wrong address, showing staff the barcode to prove it belonged to him.

The facts stated the incident was captured on CCTV.

At around 5.30pm on November 18, police were alerted to another Express Post package being delivered to Sam Sakr.

Sakr picked up the parcel from the Erina post office in person and was stopped by plain clothes officers.

“The accused was searched along with the small black package,” the facts stated.

Officers discovered a medium clear resealable sandwich bag with a crystal substance which was later identified as 28.94g of methylamphetamine.

Sakr was taken to Gosford Police Station where he declined an interview.

“Police will allege the accused has taken part in the supply of a prohibited drug being methylamphetamine,” the facts stated.

Magistrate Jennifer Price ordered a sentence assessment report and Sakr will be sentenced on April 13 2023.
