Craig Phillip Cooney charged with large commercial drug supply across the Central Coast

A Terrigal man has faced court after being charged with supplying a large amount of drugs, alleged to be methylamphetamine, across the Central Coast.

A man has been charged with large commercial drug supply after six search warrants were carried out at homes across the Central Coast.

Craig Phillip Cooney, of Terrigal, did not apply for bail when his matter was mentioned briefly at Gosford Local Court before Magistrate Pauline Wright on Thursday.

The 33-year-old was arrested on Wednesday and charged with supply commercial and large commercial quantity prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

In May 2022, Strike Force Wandarri was established by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad and Brisbane Water Police District to investigate the alleged supply and manufacture of methylamphetamine in the region.

Seven people have been arrested and charged with drug-related offences during the investigation and all remain before the courts.

Strike force detectives carried out six search warrants at homes in Terrigal, Gosford, Erina, Wamberal, and Swan Bay, on December 15 2022.

During the warrants, police seized a number of items including methylamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, drug paraphernalia, and mobile phones.

At the time, a 33-year-old man was arrested at a Terrigal home and charged with an unrelated matter and remained on conditional bail.

Following further investigations, including forensic analysis of the items seized from the Terrigal home, the same man attended Gosford Police Station on Wednesday.

Mr Cooney’s matter was adjourned to Gosford Local Court on March 24.
