A man will face court next month after assaulting a young woman at a party before a brawl broke out and she later stabbed him in the shoulder and leg.

Hayden Champion, 24, of Hamlyn Terrace, pleaded guilty in Wyong Local Court to two counts of affray and one count of common assault.

An agreed set of facts states Champion had met a 20-year-old woman through friends twice before they met up again at a party about 8.30pm on February 13 at Basford Rd, Doyalson North.

She was intoxicated and had taken some recreational drugs and before long they kissed in a shed.

They moved to a bathroom and kissed again with the woman filming the kisses on her mobile phone.

“The offender did not like (her) filming him,” the facts state.

“In the bathroom the offender snatched (her) phone and put it in his bag. (She) aggressively grabbed it back. The offender got angry and threw (her) around with both hands and tried to get her phone off her again while he hit her head with both fists.”

Another guest came in and said “what the f..k is going on?”.

The young woman started to cry and Champion also started crying “saying he was so sorry”, the facts state.

About 9.15pm the victim came running out to the verandah and told people “Hayden just f..king bashed me in the bathroom”.

The facts state a number of fights broke out in the driveway where Champion grabbed another woman by the hair and dragged her to the ground where people started kicking and hitting her on the ground.

There was more fighting with Champion punching the young woman he had kissed earlier “twice in the head” before they left in a car with two other people.

The driver pulled into the Shell service station on the Pacific Highway at Doyalson where Champion started arguing with one of his mates about kissing the victim before dragging him out of the back seat and they started punching each other.

The fight spilled onto the highway with the young woman trying to separate them before she stabbed Champion who knocked her to the ground and “stomped on her”.

“(She) later said to police she honestly cannot remember when she stabbed the offender,” the facts state.

“(She) said she thinks she maybe snapped, `cause that’s the second time the offender had bashed her’. (She) said she stabbed the offender out of anger for bashing her twice.”

Champion suffered significant blood loss and was barely conscious when he was picked up and taken to hospital.

He underwent a blood transfusion and surgery to “explore, clean and close” a 5-6cm stab wound over the left shoulder blade and a 2-3cm stab wound to the right thigh.

Champion will face Gosford District Court on September 16 to set a date for his sentence.

The young woman, of Hamlyn Terrace, was later charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She is yet to enter a plea and remains before the Local Court.
