The Central Coast has 119 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The rise in numbers comes as a confirmed case was reported at Woodport Early Learning Centre in Erina over the weekend.

NSW Health reported the diagnosis at the Woodport Cl centre, stating that investigations are ongoing.

The Express contacted the centre this morning and they indicated they would not be commenting at this time.

Central Coast Local Health District has revealed the latest figures today, indicating that 44 of the cases had recovered and three are in hospital.

More than 4900 tests have been carried out across the region.

Last week, Kincumber High School closed for one day as a student tested positive to COVID-19. The school has since been thoroughly cleaned and reopened with close contacts of the student in self isolation.

Central Coast Parliamentary Secretary Adam Crouch said the Central Coast local government area had the fourth highest count in NSW.

Heading into the Easter long weekend, Mr Crouch has renewed calls for people to stay home.

“The Easter school holiday period is normally one of the busiest times of the year but this year I’m asking people to stay at home,” he said.

“The only reasons to leave home are shopping for essentials, medical care, exercise or essential work and study commitments.

“Currently there are 117 cases on the Central Coast and this number will continue to increase unless everyone follows the restrictions and social distancing rules.”

Central Coast Mayor Lisa Matthews has also reiterated calls for people not to travel to and from the Central Coast.

“In response to current restrictions and government guidelines, anyone considering travelling to our beautiful region is asked to please put your plans on hold for the moment,” she said.

“Now is not the time to visit the Central Coast. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines about non-essential travel.

“Our community’s health and wellbeing is paramount, which is why I’m pleading with holiday-makers to stay away at this time, it is important for all of us.”
