THE Commonwealth Bank has reported a profit of $9.93 billion this year, but apparently that’s not enough to keep the Toukley branch open.

TOUKLEY residents will petition against the closure of the Commonwealth Bank branch on Mann St, Toukley.
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has announced the branch will close on Friday, December 1. Customers will then need to travel to branches at Lake Haven or The Entrance.
Members of the Toukley Senior Citizens will be at the bank at 11am today with a petition against the closure of the local branch.
Dobell federal MP Emma McBride has spoken in support of the petition.
“The Commonwealth Bank declared a full-year, after-tax profit of $9.93 billion this year, a 7.6 per cent rise,” she said.
“Their profits are extraordinary and yet they are cutting local branches which provide essential services to their customers. While deposits and withdrawals can be done at the Post Office, and the ATM will remain, many customers need branch services.”
Ms McBride said if the CBA doesn’t respond to the community, she will seek assurance that staff at the branch will not lose their jobs.
The petition will also be available to sign at Toukley Senior Citizens, 1 Hargraves Street Toukley (opposite Coles).
