A bus driver has faced court for the first time since being charged over the death of a female pedestrian outside a Central Coast shopping centre.

Craig Hollan Marjoram, of Killarney Vale, faced Wyong Local Court on Wednesday where he is facing two charges including negligent driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning death.

The man was not required to enter any pleas during his first appearance in court.

Charge sheets tendered in court allege the 64-year-old was driving a Red Bus service about 9.25am on August 19, 2022, when he allegedly collided with Leigh Black.

Paramedics were called to the scene outside Bateau Bay Square shopping centre and worked on the mother-of-two but she could not be revived.

Mr Marjoram returned a negative roadside breath test and was taken for mandatory blood and urine tests.

He was later taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with the offences before the court.

His solicitor asked if Mr Marjoram could be excused from attending court at the next occasion if he was legally represented.

He also successfully sought a slight amendment to his client’s bail conditions so he could report to The Entrance Police station once a week instead of Wyong.

The matter was adjourned to November 2.

Mr Marjoram did not comment outside court.

It comes after a fundraiser was launched on behalf of Mrs Black to raise money to purchase playground equipment or upgrade a local park in her memory.

Mrs Black was remembered as a loving mother and a hardworking small business owner who operated the Simply Better Wine bottle shop and deli at Avoca Beach.
